Lovely Lake Casitas

July 17, 2008 · No Comments

Friday morning I’m hauling myself out of bed before dawn to go explore Lake Casitas by canoe.

If you visit the Lake Casitas website, scroll down it a bit to the “Lake Casitas Recreation Area” slide show: some really beautiful photographs of the lake and areas surrounding it.

The air temps have finally dropped a little around here, so there is no longer a barrier (or excuse) for not going outdoors! I’ve looked at weather around in other parts of the country (I dabble in amateur meteorology) and it’s been hot everywhere. Of particular interest is the very poor air quality in spots….I’m especially concerned about a dear friend who lives along the eastern seaboard of the New England states. Please, if not already, pay close attention to the air! Take good great care of your health, it is important to many!

AIRNow is a great site to observe national air quality and get information.

The air quality map shows the west coast, especially in the southern portion to be in the “Moderate” to “Unhealthy” ranges, but that is inland a bit, over the coastal mountains. Air along the coast where I live is fine, and even up into the local mountains is good. Being well north of Los Angelese and west of the San Joaquin Valley helps a lot.

Anyway, tomorrow is the lake day. I have a new camera and will take photos. Stay tuned!
